Andrea
Procopio.
I'm a PhD student at MIT working with Prof. Dimitris Bertsimas, and a Research Fellow at Harvard.
My research focuses on systems that reliably and meaningfully automate scientific discovery, with a particular interest in continual learning and recursive self improvement. I believe accelerating scientific discovery is the most consequential use of AI to expand human capabilities, drive economic growth, and raise the median quality of life.
I studied Computer Science and Economics at Bocconi. My thesis grew out of research with Prof. Tomer Ullman at Harvard’s Computation, Cognition, and Development Lab, where I continue to collaborate.
I co-founded BAINSA, Italy’s largest student-run AI research lab, and EuroTech Federation, a community for Europe’s brightest founders under 26.
